Sport, Recreation and Strategic Infrastructure is once again partnering with Matrix on Board to deliver two practical governance workshops for Peak Sporting Bodies and their affiliated clubs across the Northern Territory. These sessions are designed to strengthen the knowledge and confidence of committee members and board directors by providing clear, practical guidance on the key responsibilities involved in sporting governance. The Foundations of Governance workshops will cover a range of important topics, including legal duties of committee members, roles and responsibilities, understanding constitutions, association compliance requirements, running useful meetings, committee HR responsibilities, and financial oversight and obligations. These are all essential areas for clubs and peak bodies committed to strong leadership, sound decision-making, and long-term sustainability. This training is aimed at sporting club committee members and Peak Body board directors, providing an excellent opportunity for current and emerging leaders to build their governance capability in a supportive learning environment. Importantly, the workshops are funded through the NT Department of People, Sport and Culture, with no fee to attend.
